ishyface: (i shall never grow old)

- The reintroduction of Wellbutrin to my life. That is going pretty well, although I was a deeply paranoid mess for the first two weeks and spent a lot of time listening to Kid A and thinking a lizard-man was going to drown me in the bath. I also thought I was Patton Oswalt for like ten seconds, but that may be unrelated.

- An epic going-away party in which I had many drunk feelings and yelled about them. I hugged a lot of people and didn't cry that much. As parties go, it was a good one.

- A move from St. John's to Halifax. I haven't lived full-time in N.S. since 2006, and it's a major adjustment. No one here eats salt meat and they look at me funny when I say "yis." (Then again, Newfoundlanders also look at me funny when I say "yis." My Newfoundland accent leaves something to be desired. Like, for example, any resemblance to an actual Newfoundland accent.) I keep seeing people I think I recognize from high school and staring at them intently. Beginning to wonder if am giving impression of being axe-murderer.

- The end of a job I really, really liked. Working in a bank was not exciting, but it was secure and enjoyable and the people that I worked with were, by and large, very nice. (And they gave me a handbag with zombies on it on my last day, because I was apparently their pet alternabrat. So cute.) Since getting to Halifax I've applied for roughly forty jobs, got interviews for four, and was accepted for one... at Subway. "Displeased" does not quite cover my feelings on this situation, but I am still busily applying for other things, and in the meantime, it's a way to pay the bills.

Also, I get tips, which are pretty rad.

- Dal registration. I have my schedule for my first semester of library school, and I am unbearably excited even though my first class is unbearably early.

- The acquisition of a wee apartment building (with a deck!), nicknamed "The Bro's Nest."

- The acquisition of a mature white lady-cat, name of Violet. She is very affectionate in that anxious, if-I-don't-follow-you-to-the-bathroom-you-will-surely-disappear way that is so particular to shelter cats. The other pusses have adjusted, with the exception of Roman, who seems to be certain that we brought her here specifically to ruin his life. Then again, that is his response to pretty much everything.

- The acquisition of an Amy, who could not initially move down with me because our lease was not up. BUT NOW I HAVE MY CLAWS IN HER AND SHE CANNOT ESCAPE. She finds Halifax bizarre, partly because someone cat-called her the other day by yelling "you're beautiful!" And because people get shot here a lot. She is going to apply to the Funeral Direction program at NSCC, so she can learn how to chill with dead people and their friends.

- The acquisition of NOT A SINGLE FRIEND. I'm okay with it as of right now, because no one has friends when they first move, and the few people I knew in high school who I'd want to be friends with now seem to have vanished. However, if I do not have friends by the end of September I shall be quite put out.

- The new season of Arrested Development, which: eh.

OHOHOHOOOO. Do they ever. They already have a concert DVD from 2 years ago when they were first getting huge (which has many a good drinking game to go with it), but in August, their massive worldwide 3D theatrical event is coming. Part concert movie, part documentary by MORGAN FUCKING SPERLOCK. The concerts they filmed for it were the shows at the O2 in London that I went to and was in the third row and I am totally going to be in a shitload of crowd shots, okay? Prepare to hate me along with a theatre full of 12 year olds as I shriek with delight upon the moment of seeing my idiot face on screen IN 3D.

First trailer from awhile back. Beware: Zayn talking to his mom might make you cry:

New footage, new trailer, including my shows-- I have a bag of that red and white confetti!

And there's yet another trailer, the full length one, coming out really soon. Like today, possibly. So, you know. You're coming.

Elliott! You're back, and you brought the Amy and a new cat and a new flat and a handbag with zombies! Will there be a picspam to sum up this post? (My vote is YES WITH BELLS ON, obvs.) Scritch the beasties for me, and give Violet and poor traumatized Roman a few extra, eh?

Big News From Here: I'm moving in a week or so- not very far, but far enough to be safely out of reach (I think). It's shabby and affordable and cat-friendly and my new roommates seem to be solid, which are all encouraging facts. Things in this house have been hellish since late April and I think the move's gonna be a huge change for the better in a few ways. Am planning an art binge- the first in years- to celebrate all this, though it'll have to wait 'til after FolkFest (which is coming up so fucking fast that I'm due for a deer-in-the-headlights moment vis à vis the practical stuff one of these days).

There will certainly be a picspam eventually! I never ended up posting any pictures of our last place, which is a shame. (It was adorable.) Our living room theme is ironic inspirational plaques, religious icons, and owls.

Roman needs EXTRA extra scritches. Poor thing- first he had to go on a plane (NEXT TO A DOG), then he is faced with a beautiful lady-cat who looks askance at him every time he passes by. (I haven't taken my zombie handbag out on the town yet, but I am excited for it!)

Yay for moving! Tell me about your roommates! Also, will you be posting pictures once you are all moved in?

Actually, I haven't yet met three of my roommates, as they're working out of town at the moment, but the ones who are around seem pretty chill- one of them is a musician and the other is fond of peanut butter and hot sauce on toast.

There will be pics once I'm settled; the new room is pretty tiny, but I'm going to give it a fresh coat of paint, and it's got an east-facing window. You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to living aboveground again, darling.

Anyhow, time for me to stop procrastinating and get to work- these boxes won't pack themselves, and I need to get estimates from the movers today...

Oh, sweet Cheezus, Wellbutrin paranoia. I was on the stuff for two days, during which I caught myself thinking that the nanobots had taken over my thoughts and I would NEVER BE NORMAL AGAIN. I switched to another brand.

I really kind of shot myself in the foot there, honestly- I decided that the day that I started new meds would be the perfect day to start reading IT and research serial killers. (The paranoia may have influenced that, a little.) Wellbutrin is the only drug that's ever worked for me, but holy balls the first month or so makes it almost not worth it.
