I feel like stretching my arms above my head and trying to snitch things out of the sky.
It's like a Sunday here. Take that as you will.

I am a bit angry right now. It's that anger that can't really stop because its source is so common.
I'm angry at people who try to keep music that they deem too "inappropriate"- dark, heavy, angry, sexual, any number of adjectives would work- from other people, citing religion (or public interest) as a reason for it. I'm angry because of the way I feel about music- it transcends religion, and so it can't really be bound by the rules of one or the other.
It's when they try to keep it from teenagers that it makes me angriest. People say that music of that kind will make adolescents worse, that it'll release all their hurt and fury and helplessness- and yeah, it will. That's why we need it more than anyone else on the planet.
Adolescence is an insane, fucked-up, bullshit time. People have said that so much that it's an empty cliche by now, but it's no less true for that. If you don't have an outlet for all of that rage, the frustration and disgust that comes from living with words but without a voice, if you just try to suppress all of it so things stay nice and clean and wholesome... that's when bad stuff happens. Kids become like Jeremy, getting so psychologically fucked that they take guns to school.
We are humans, and we are not nice, nor clean, nor wholesome, and we need aesthetic and artistic freedom to express that. If we don't, that's when society as a construction becomes like the machines in The Matrix, overtaking all human life, and culture as a growing, living thing is assimilated by it, and we are all narrowed down to caricatures and androids.

Speaking of androids, Meg and Jack would have had very pretty babies had they not been brother and sister, don't you agree?
That idea stolen from this kid here.
Ah, never mind me, I just have an ongoing crush on both members of the White Stripes...

As a correction to yesterday's entry: I did not, in fact, get Pretty Hate Machine. I got Further Down The Spiral. Also, am not working this weekend, but some weekend in the vague future. Gotta love the clarity of parents.

That is all. For tonight, anyway. (Mwa ha ha?)
