Yesterday, Alex pointed out how much funnier everything sounds if you add 'in my pants' to the end of it. Lo and behold, he was right. Go him.
That was the highlight of yesterday. It wasn't a very fun day. My head was doing that thing that it does where I'm expecting it to rotate around as I vomit pea soup.
...
Uh. Okay. Trying to comprehend that sentence and failing...
Right! Moving on!
Today was much better, as I got to go to the library for the first time in a while. It was a good trip- I found Middlemarch and Borderliners and the first book of Lenore. (Kathryn- you absolutely have to read this. Cute little dead girls! Random violence! Bad, baaaaaaad poetry!) Also got The Saga of the Renunciates out again, and the first two Maus books. And Joan of Arc manga. Yes, fucking Joan of fucking Arc fucking manga. I didn't know it existed either, but it sure is pretty.
I tried out some Oh My Goddess! manga and it was shit. Don't ever read it.
Watched The Full Monty with 'rents, Keru, and Edward. It's one of those movies that could have easily been mediocre, but ended up being hilarious and good. Mostly due to a British cast. Everything is funny with the British. It's even funnier when you realize that your seven-year-old brother is watching a movie about male strippers and deepthroating a PushPop. My parents are either really liberal or really, really dumb.
Got a billboard to put my pictures of inspirations and lust objects on. Now all I need are thumbtacks.

I really wish I had something of value to say. Or something I could say here. But somewhere along the line this became more about what other people think about what I say.
I may have to start writing some protected entries, because I don't want people to know what I think, but I don't want it bottled up either and I don't have another journal. (And don't really want to make one.)
Even writing this is silly, I guess. I'm saying what I think about not wanting to say what I think...
I shall post lists. Lists are easy.

Movies I Want To See

Velvet Goldmine. Slash. Glitter. Need I say more?
Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Don't know why, frankly.
Yellowbeard. Monty Python! And it's about PIRATES!
Edward Scissorhands. Older Johnny Depp movie. Apparently a weird fantasy thing.
The Dark Crystal. Like Labyrinth's older, less funny sibling.
Mallrats. Yep, Kevin Smith's still cool.
Bowling for Columbine. After Michael's big Academy speech and Daniel's hailing this movie as the best documentary since Woodstock, I'm intrigued. Not just because of the interview with Marilyn Manson. Nope.
That new one with Christina Ricci and Jason Biggs. Hee. I like Christina Ricci- always have, since The Addams Family Values which I would also like to see again- but I haven't seen anything more recent than Sleepy Hollow. (Side note: did you know she did ANOTHER movie with Johnny Depp? I didn't know that. Did you know that?)
A Clockwork Orange. Or maybe I'll simply read the book...
Hair. With the logic of 'why the hell not?'
UHF. Weird Al. Weird. Freakin'. Al.
*Animal House. Apparently frat houses DO look like this.
*Black Adder. The one that Cassie keeps on ripping off in Draco Dormiens, yes?
Mermaids. Pure silliness. It's a movie with Cher, Winona Ryder, and a very small Christina Ricci, and if I don't see it I'll eventually die of morbid curiousity.
The Doom Generation. A weird movie about hell and patriotism.
The Man Who Fell To Earth. David Bowie plays a confused alien.
Bound. No real reason, just sounds good...
Boys Don't Cry. Movie about genderfuck and homophobia. And is a true story and apparently really hard to watch because it's so intense. Sounds REALLY good.
Fucking Amal. AKA, "Small towns and girls who hate them."
Amelie. Looks fun and whimsical. I want.
Pleasantville. I saw this when I was nine-ish, and didn't realize how good it was. (Despite having not only Reese Witherspoon but Tobey MacGuire.) Need to see it again.
Donnie Darko. Rabbit!
A Fish Called Wanda. It has some of the Pythons in it. That's all I need to know.
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Hugo Weaving in feathers and sequins. I want to see this just to make sure it's not a figment of my imagination.
Gia. Angelina Jolie, lesbians, and heroin addicts. Also based on a true story.
Lost And Delirious. Hurrah for movies about boarding school.

Albums Eru Wants (And Why)

Disintegration- The Cure. Pretty.
Ritual de lo Habitual- Jane's Addiction. Because Perry Farrell has a cool chin. Seriously. Look at it someday. It has as much personality as Hugo Weaving's forehead.
Sing Sing Death House- The Distillers.
Planet Fame- Robin Black And The IRS. I like these guys. In fact, they seem to be the only Canadian band I DO like. Hunh.
Permission To Land- The Darkness. Are these guys a joke or what?
Never Mind The Bolloks- The Sex Pistols. Gotta love the classics.
Haunted- Poe. Her second album. I have a few of the songs on a CD and they're v. good- especially Control and Walk The Walk.
Hello- Poe. The one with Angry Johnny and Trigger-Happy Jack.
White Blood Cells- The White Stripes. Hotel Yorba. Hotel. Farkin'. Yorba.
Ágaetis Byrjun- Sigur Ros.
The Downward Spiral- NIN. I need no reason, for it is NIN.
Version 2.0- Garbage. Have I mentioned today how much ass this band kicks?
Sweet Heart Dealer- scarling. It'scomingoutthismonthSQUEE! Although I probably won't be able to get a copy... fucking record distributors.
Is This It?- the Strokes. These guys are awesome. I'm trying to figure out if Julian's bi or just a hetero who snogs (male) journalists when he's smashed.
letting off the Happiness- Bright Eyes. "Bedroom pop", eh?
Anything by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Anything at all. Same goes for the Cocteau Twins.
Something by Le Tigre. Heard they're good. Must explore this further.
Master- Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Not an album, I think. Not sure what it is, really.

Songs I Feel Like Recommending

Angel Days- The Cocteau Twins.
So pretty and vague. There aren't any official lyrics for this song- you have to decide what they're saying.
Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden. Nineties grunge song about suburbia. Video's really good too, check it out sometime.
Hurt- NIN. My favourite NIN song, because it's so damn adolescent.
Silver Waterfalls- Siouxsie and the Banshees. For a goth song this is pretty damn upbeat. And has lovely imagery.
Plainsong- The Cure. Simple, yet effective.
12:51- the Strokes. How very danceable.
Mummer's Dance- Loreena McKinnett. Amazing. All her stuff's amazing, but this one's amazingly amazing.
City of Angels- The Distillers. They make screaming fun.
Bandaid Covers the Bullethole- scarling. I've been going on about this song since the summer. WHY haven't you listened to it yet?! *Forces it down your throats.*
I Wanna Be Sedated- The Ramones. Forever shall be my "I finished my math exam! Yay!" song. And was in BMB once. Skids sang it.
Under Pressure- David Bowie & Queen. w00+ w00+.
Strawberry Gashes- Jack Off Jill. Still my favourite JOJ song.

I ate an egg today. (Or yesterday, by now.) It was a good egg.
It occurs to me that I could plausibly stay up all night writing. I think I may.

~Jehane

"The truth is, laughter always sounds more perfect than weeping. Laughter flows in a violent riff and is effortlessly melodic. Weeping is often fought, choked, half strangled, or surrendered to with humiliation." - Anne Rice, Taltos (My, en't I feelin' goffic to-day?)
