Once upon a time there was a kid named Gerald who was very sick and stayed home from school, only to discover a vanful of kids in the driveway outside.
"Come on!" said one of the kids (whose name was Martine). "We're going to an Abandoned Radar Base What Was Used To Fight Commies! It shall be EXTREME!"
Gerald, who was always up for fighting commies, happily clambered in.
"VROOM!" said the kid driving the van (whose name was Jake). "I am crazy fast driver! Hands on the wheel? Fie upon your 'hands on wheel'! Hey, guys, let's switch to the opposite lane just for giggles!"
"Let's listen to Smash Mouth!" cried another kid (whose name was Ryan), clutching at a dilapidated speaker. "And also play with fire."
The last kid (whose name was Liam) just kind of glared at no one in particular.
The road was long, and twisty, and flanked by tire piles and the occasional cow, but eventually they found the way to the Abandoned Radar Base What Was Used To Fight Commies. It was posted with signs that said things like "trespassers will be prosecuted" and "this is illegal, yo."
And so they tripped their merry way up the road to the Abandoned Radar Base What Was Used To Fight Commies, luckily meeting up with some other kids who actually had flashlights.
The Abandoned Radar Base What Was Used To Fight Commies was dark inside, and full of sharp edges and sudden drops. And also pigeon shit, which found its way up Gerald's nose somehow. ("God dammit," said Gerald.) There were walkways and ladders and an empty roof swept by the sky, a spotlight in the distance like a watchtower. There were crumbled tiles and rust, graffiti on the walls like paintings in a cave, and rabbit holes to fall into like Wonderland.
As they left they heard someone screaming good screams in the distance, and they held hands and let it all be dark and soft and cricket noises.
And then Jake nearly crashed the car a couple of times.
The end!
