Bah.

Little Sister and I were just watching a program on the History Channel called The Worst Jobs In History. Did you know that wisewomen who didn't know their remedies used to put worms on a string for people with sore throats to wear? The idea was you had them under your shirt for a few days, and when they stopped moving your sore throat went away. Did it work? Probably not. But I kind of want to try it out. It'd be an interesting conversation-starter, I think. "Hey, how're you doing?" "Oh, pretty good. I've got worms on a string around my neck. How's your dog?"

I went to get my hair cut today and found a really interesting book of photographs (hidden beneath a thousand fucking issues of People) called Face Forward. It was by a guy named Kevyn Aucoin, who was a makeup artist but not in a boring way- he used it like an artform. In this case, he used it to transform modern day actors and models into people from the past. Gina Gershon as Sophia Loren. Calista Flockhart as Audrey Hepburn. Tori Amos as Mary, Queen of Scots. Gwyneth Paltrow as James Dean. (I wish I could find the photo of Karen Elson, AKA "that chick Jack White just married in a canoe", as Elizabeth I. It was an interesting mixture of beautiful and fucking creepy.) The whole thing was just entirely fascinating because they were all so recognizable- even though half the time I couldn't put a name to a face, the face sprang to mind instantly.
(This is also cool.)

I've decided to do my Art exam on Frankenthaler, mostly because I like the look of this. And because all the choices are bloody fucking abstract artists. I don't dislike abstract artists, as such, but come on, we studied Surrealism! SURREALISM!

Oh, and by the way:
You know that sort of unspoken rule that almost all human beings have? That one that says "if it looks like a foot, smells like a foot, and tastes like a foot, you shouldn't eat it"? THEY DON'T HAVE THAT RULE IN DELIS.
