We don't use the z-word.
Oct. 31st, 2008 11:22 pmI went to school like this today.
( Grey pride. )
A disappointingly small number of folks were dressed up! It kind of pissed me off, to tell you the truth. Halloween is the one day of the year when you can wear WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT without anyone saying anything. Plus fake blood. Why wouldn't you take advantage of such a sweet motherfucking holiday? Fail, university.
(Although a Spanish exchange student in my Grammar class dressed up as Sarah Palin and draped herself with police tape. It made me laugh. She refused to look at me, though, because she said I was too scary.)
I went to the English Society mixer after class and had a... well, a time. It's always weird to go to school functions, especially when you live off-campus, but after I had a drink I started relaxing and had three good conversations: one with a professor, one with a townie, and one with a guy from my Moral Philosophy class named Tim. Tim was dressed as Malcolm Reynolds and gently informed me about ten minutes in that I had blood all over my teeth. Nice guy.
I felt kind of frustrated with myself for not immediately having a good time, but at least I did it, and talked to people, and had some fun. Baby steps, etc.
And now I am chilling with my family, eating tiny chocolate bars and watching Poltergeist. Tomorrow I start NaNoWriMo, and the day after that is my birthday.
Happy Halloween, everybody.
