The last fictional book I read was The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, by Junot Diaz. It is about a fat virgin namedDawn Schweizer Oscar who loves Lord of the Rings and is sad and Dominican. It is also full of bits of Spanish, which I painstakingly puzzled out with the aid of a French-English dictionary. It was pretty fantastic and ended exactly where it needed to end. That's rare in a book, I find.
The fictional books I am currently reading are Lady Oracle by Margaret Atwood, On Beauty by Zadie Smith, and By the Light of My Father's Smile by Alice Walker. (Yes, all at once. I read a lot. It's a thing.)
