Chapter Four is now up! George Cooper: still creepy, gettin' creepier.

The Missus and I (plus a mutual friend) went to see The Hunger Games last night, and WERE WE NOT ENTERTAINED?! (We were, in fact!) Cinna and Haymitch were my favourites in the books and they continued to be my favourites on screen, but more so because Woody Harrelson and also Lenny Kravitz forever. I am weirded out that the dudes they got to play Peeta and Gale are being marketed as teen heartthrobs now, though. Those were the derpiest faces that ever hurr'd a durr.

Also: Wes Bentley's beard. I want one.

I was surprised that I liked Lenny Kravitz as Cinna as much as I did. I was not one of those people who were all "WTF CINNA IS NOT BLACK", but I did have it in my head that Cinna was really young and Lenny Kravitz is not so much! He looks much younger than he is, though, so it didn't end up bothering me.

Wholeheartedly agreed on the derpiness of Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, though. And while I don't want a Seneca Crane beard for myself, I totally want to see that become A Thing. That was really awesome facial hair.

Overall, I was really, really pleased with the movie. I think Suzanne Collins knew exactly what she was doing when she wrote the first book - it read like it should have been a movie, so it translated really well to the screen.

Lenny Kravitz is such a beautiful man-flower. I'd like to think he was kind of disappointed that Cinna's wardrobe was so muted in contrast to the other Capitol characters, because if anyone would be legitimately psyched about wearing ten-foot platforms, a boa, and a green wig, it is Lenny fucking Kravitz. I'm glad they remembered the gold eyeliner, too. Gotta get me some of that.

God, those two. It's like, I know life in District 12 is hard, and maybe that makes you derpy? But they looked like they'd been hit with sledgehammers as babies and their faces stuck that way. Sad times.

I did like the scene where Gale was sulking alone in that meadow, though, if only because it looked like he should be listening to Morrissey and weeping.

I hope they'll split up the last book into two a la Harry Potter. I thought that it was pretty cluttered and badly paced, so I think a split would do it good.

*snug!*

If only a similar adaptation of Uglies were made, my life would basically be complete.
